Professors of the degrees in Education of our University, Luis Mariano Bártoli, Yolanda Albarrán and Montserrat Fontanals are currently visiting Kalale (Benin) within the framework of Benin Project's activities, carried out in connection with the Mater Salvatoris School of this African city.

The Benin Project is an initiative in which professors and students of the Education degrees have been working on since the beginning of the course. Its goal is to establish a communication channel between the particular needs of the Mater Salvatoris School of Kalale and the knowledge and creative potential of these students of our University.

Throughout these months, our students have designed and created didactic materials adequate to the conditions of this centre of Kalale. The projects that have been carried out respond to a double objective: Looking after the pedagogic needs specific to the children of Kalale, on one hand; and providing pedagogic and training tools for the teachers of the centre, on the other one.

The Benin Project has the virtue of promoting a mutual enrichment, since it is a great chance for Education students to apply the knowledge acquired during the degree. The practical dimension of this University training is lived intensely and even more so if it is combined with the solidarity factor.

Due to the interest this project has for the formation of the students, the activities of the Benin Project are included in the curriculum of the degrees in Education. Specifically, they have been included in the subjects of the Mathematics, Plastic Arts and Reading and Writing areas.
