Why study at the UAO CEU?

1. The importance of family business

Family business is the main axis of the economic structure in Spain. Almost 90% of the private companies are family businesses. Hence the importance of their weight in economy: they generate more than 65% of employment in the private sector, and represent the 57% of the gross value-added. With the publication of these statistics is shown the importance of the family business in the social and economic structure of Spain. For this reason, the options of establishing professional relationships within the family business are very high, and it is required a very detailed knowledge of its particularities and differentiate elements.

With this new master’s degree in Family Business Management, the students will be studying the strengths and essentials for the family business management. They will be able to implement successfully the skills that will allow them to improve the family business management, the loyalty of the employees and the family implication in order to create adequate professional relationships and beneficial for the company.

2. Collaborators

The master’s degree in Family Business Management is an interuniversity programme, promoted by Universitat Abat Oliba CEU and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.

This master's degree counts with the support and participation of the Instituto de la Empresa Familiar, the main business association of these characteristics in Spain.

5. Information resources

The Library Service is conceived as a support unit for study and research. Its most important objective is to meet the educative and scientific demands. It has convenient opening hours, including weekends, with the best computer equipment. In addition, the UAO CEU offers to all the University community a vast digital storage, with free access to its publications from its docent, research or institutional activities carried out by teachers, students or former students from the University.

ADMISSION PROFILE

The master's degree in Family Business Management is especially aimed at graduates in the Economic and Business Management fields, with or without specific experience in family business.

Its access is not exclusively limited to university graduates, but in this case an Admission Committee will value the knowledge and professional experience in the business field of each applicant.

The students that get accredited with an official university degree will receive, depending on the degree they passed, a master’s/postgraduate’s diploma. The students that do not have an official university degree will receive a diploma of university extension.

This master's degree is aimed at university graduates, professionals that work in family businesses and at members of families with businesses who might want to increase their knowledge of the managerial and development techniques of the family business.

In addition, it allows to update and to continuously train all those professionals interested in the reality of the family businesses.
