Why study at UAO CEU?

1. Become a professional in Psychology

Access and requirements for psychologists in clinical and healthcare contexts has been affected by the passsing of the Regulations on Healthcare Professions (Royal Decree on Healthcare Centres, RD1277/2003) and the recognition of the Clinical Psychology specialisation (BOE, 17 June 2009).

More recently, the Seventh Additional Disposition of Law 33/2011, established that the only way to access the profession of General Health Psychologist is to take an official master’s degree in General Health Psychology. This means that the pathway for psychologists is clearly set as follows: Undergraduate Degree in Psychology (which is not sufficient in and of itself to enable professionals to work in the profession), and an official master’s degree in General Health Psychology to obtain the title of General Health Psychologist and PIR (Psychology Residency) or Expert (to be able to carry out clinical tasks in any sector, private or public).

As such, Abat Oliba University decided to offer this master's to complement the undergraduate degree and provide solid training, as well as preparing students to work as practising professionals, in accordance with the pathway outlined above, with a programme that covers the necessary content to obtain this title.

2. Psychological Therapeutic Care Unit

The CEU Psychological Therapuetic Care Unit is a certified healthcare centre that is part of Abat Oliba CEU University, located in Sagrat Cor University Hospital, which integrates healthcare, teaching and research. The model of healthcare provided is based on scientific evidence, with a holistic, humanistic perspective of the individual. The service offers diagnosis and treatment for various disorders.

This Unit represents a qualitative leap forward for Psychology Studies at our university. We have created a space where teaching, research and care can converge. While it offers the ideal space for students to apply their knowledge, the Unit is also another example of the transfer of knowledge from the University to society.

The master's is first taught at the Care Unit, meaning classes take place in a completely care-related context. The Unit, run by the director of the master's, is located within the Sagrat Cor Hospital (part of the Quirónsalud Group), and is staffed with clinical and healthcare psychologists that specialise in teaching and research.

3. Professional development

Wide internship programme that counts with many centres, authorised and registered as Healthcare Centres in the corresponding autonomic registers. Job Listing at a national and international level with more than 2,300 associate businesses with internship offers in more than 20 countries.

With these awards, the organising institutions hope to foster and improve the production of quality scientific work in the Health Psychology field, detect valuable contributions to the discipline and contribute to public awareness and dissemination.
