Second period for applications for CEU Merit and Financial Aids scholarships, now open

In light of the socio-economic difficulties being caused by the coronavirus crisis, our university has decided to open a second period for applications for scholarships under the CEU Merit Programme. These scholarships, which are offered by the CEU educational group, give high school students who have demonstrated academic excellence substantial financial support so they can study at our university.

CEU Merit was created in order to offer people with the required talent and attitude the opportunity to pursue their vocation without being limited due to financial reasons. This commitment to improving access to university has increased year after year, and this year’s first round of applications resulted in 85% more scholarships being awarded than in 2019.

This increase will be amplified by a second round of applications for the CEU Merit Programme, which will remain open until 29 June. Students with an average grade of 7 or higher in their first year of high school or equivalent are eligible. When evaluating profiles, the scholarship committee takes into account the mark, language skills, level of their final research project, social and extracurricular activities and, additionally, the family’s income level.

The scholarship is applied to the cost of a year’s tuition at our university. There are two types: CEU Merit 100, which means the student can study totally free of charge, and the CEU Merit Programme, which covers between 50% and 65% of tuition fees. One of the best features of this programme is that it is automatically renewed each year if the recipient maintains good academic performance.

Financial Aid

Similar to the CEU Merit Programme is our Financial Aid programme aimed at helping international students, which is also opening a second period of applications. This aid will cover 50% of the tuition fees for the chosen degree. Students with an average of 8.5 or higher are eligible. The grade, the languages and the quality of the extracurricular profile are the elements taken into account in selecting successful applicants.
