Leading academic for the Guatemala Corridor

Director of Master's and Postgraduate Qualifications and the Official Master's Degree in Logistics and International Trade, Dr. Iván Roa, has been named president of the stock company Guatemala Interoceanic Corridor's Academic Committee. This title turns Roa into the leading academic of the Guatemala Interoceanic Corridor (CIG).

Roa's position in the CIG is especially interesting as the organisation is a strategic project for international trade and transport. This corridor offers a potential overland route between the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. From a logistical point of view, the CIG offers the huge benefit of transporting goods separated into smaller units.

The Academic Committee of the SIGSA is in charge of the creation, execution and regulation of all teaching and training activity in the institutions linked to the CIG. Our university has been a committee member for the past two years. Roa's contribution to the committee comes mainly from the knowledge bank he has accumulated by teaching the Official Master's Degree in Logistics and International Trade, which is currently organised in collaboration with the ICIL Foundation.

The committee has been reinforced by the incorporation of their new member, the University of San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC). This new acquisition was thanks to a signed agreement between the two institutions. The integration of the new member and the naming of Roa as president took place in a celebratory event in Guatemala that featured speakers such as Rector of USAC, Dr. Murphy Paiz; Director of the Centro Universitario de Oriente (CUNORI), part of USAC; Dr. Edwin Coy, Chairman of the Board at SIGSA; Guillermo Catalán; and Iván Roa himself.
