Our mission at Student Services is to inform, guide and advise students in all areas of university life. Our fundamental purpose is to help resolve, where possible, any and all issues referred to us, seeking the best solution or alternative depending on each case.

student council

The Abat Oliba CEU University Student Council is the body that represents students.

It is made up of all the delegates and sub-delegates elected at the beginning of each academic year for each of the years and degree programmes at UAO CEU.

After the vote of the student representatives (delegates and sub-delegates of each year and degree) on 17 October 2022, the election results were as follows:

  • Lara Raquel Monroy Roncancio, President of the Student Council. She is sub-delegate of the 1 year of the Degree in Journalism + Political Sciences
  • Laia Lázaro Soto, First Vice-President of the Student Council. She is sub-delegate of the fourth year of the Degree in Law.
  • Noelia Cabanillas Robles, First Vice-President of the Student Council. He is delegate of the fourth year of the Degree in Psychology + Criminology and Security.
What are the Council’s goals?

The objectives of the Council are to:

  • Listen and give solutions and answers to students’ ideas, suggestions, proposals and initiatives
  • Study issues that most concern the students.
  • Represent all students on the UAO CEU Governing Council
  • To inform, help and collaborate with all students.

University Ombudsman

The University Ombudsman, a person appointed by the Board of Trustees of Abat Oliba CEU University, is charged with the functions of defending and protecting the rights, duties and legitimate interests of members of the university community. Their fundamental aim is to contribute to the improvement of the quality and proper functioning of the University.

Procedure for submitting a complaint

Any member of the Abat Oliba CEU University community may contact the University Ombudsman on an individual or collective basis to have a legitimate interest defended.

Any application shall be submitted to the Ombudsman Secretary, signed by the person or persons concerned, with a written reasoned statement containing the personal details and address for notification purposes

The rights and duties of the students are determined in the Rules of Organisation and Functioning of Abat Oliba CEU University.

Student rights

In accordance with article 61 of the Rules of Organisation and Functioning of Abat Oliba CEU University, students have the following rights:

  • a. To receive a qualified, up-to-date education and comprehensive human training in accordance with the educational project of the University.
  • b. To acquire the knowledge relating to the courses on which they are enrolled.
  • c. The right to equal opportunities and non-discrimination for reasons of personal or social circumstances, both in terms of admission and the right to continue studies at the University, as well as in the exercise of their academic rights. The University will provide particular support for students suffering from any kind of disability and will collaborate with specialised organisations, public and private, who work towards the optimal integration of people in such circumstances.
  • d. To be assisted and guided in academic studies by teachers and in particular by tutors.
  • e. To take part in the governing and representative bodies of the University as set forth in the regulations.
  • f. To make use of the scholarships and financial support granted by the University, Public Administrations or by private companies and institutions.
  • g. To be evaluated in their academic performance, following objective criteria and procedures that will be known in advance. In any case, the fundamental criterion will be the continuous evaluation of the student.
  • h. To appeal to the University Authorities and, if appropriate, to the University Ombudsman, when they believe their rights may have been violated.
  • i. To promote and participate in student and alumni associations under the terms set forth in the Student Regulations.
  • j. To access academic, psycho-pedagogical and support services, guidance and information that the University offers as part of its comprehensive training, allowing students to take their place as professionals that are prepared scientifically, technically, and ethically, and to develop as people, in order to help them enter the world of work.
  • k. Any other rights detailed in the University’s Student Regulations.
Procedure for submitting a complaint

In accordance with article 61 of the Rules of Organisation and Functioning of Abat Oliba CEU University, students have the following duties:

  • a. To pursue and make the most of their academic work as part of the University.
  • b. To exercise with responsibility the positions for which they are elected or appointed.
  • c. To cooperate with the rest of the university community in the proper functioning of the University and in the improvement of its services.
  • d. To treat university staff, colleagues and visitors with consideration and respect.
  • e. To maintain adequate order and discipline on the university campus and to promote continued, peaceful coexistence among all members of the university community.
  • f. To comply with the Rules of Organisation and Functioning and any other regulations that develop said rules.
  • g. Any other duty that derives from the Student Regulations
