Employability survey: quantiy and quality

The Agency for the Quality of the Catalan University System (AQU) has published the results of the 2020 employability survey. This report provides data on graduates who find work after studying at a Catalan university three years after completing their studies. This year’s survey covered the period from 2017 to 2020.

As in the two previous editions of the report, the graduates of our university have an overall employability rate higher than the average of other universities in the Catalan system: 95.3% of graduates of our degree programmes are in work.

If we break this down by field, we see that graduates of social and legal sciences have an employability rate of 95.9%, while psychology graduates stand at 93.3%. In the case of psychology graduates, this percentage is more than ten points higher than the average for all of Catalonia.

Jobs that require a university education

The AQU report does not just break down the number of graduates in work, but also analyses the quality and level of the functions they carry out. Here, we can highlight that of our graduates in employment, more than 90% (93.08%) carry out functions appropriate to their level of education.

They hold positions that require a university education and, moreover, in generally satisfactory conditions, as we can see in the jobs quality index, a score that is calculated taking into account factors such as type of contract, pay and the suitability of their education for the job they go on to perform. Graduates of our University scored 72.39% in this index. In the case of graduates for one of our degrees in the field of social and legal sciences, the percentage of satisfaction (75.5%) is more than ten points higher than the average.

Finding work quickly with the support of the University

Graduates from our university not only find quality work, but they do so quickly. Within three months of completing the degree, 75.6% of our graduates find employment.

In a high proportion of cases, our in-work graduates recognised the direct influence of the University in their finding work: almost one in four graduates claim they achieved their position through the work placements they carried out during their studies or through the Work Placement and Employment Service.
