Students wishing to apply for the specialisation course in Teaching English Language and English Classroom Management must have a Spanish degree or advanced course (general degree, degree or honours degree) or a foreign degree (equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in the Anglo-Saxon system).
The programme is particularly aimed at degree holders in Early Childhood or Primary Education who wish to specialise in the teaching through the medium of English. It might also be of interest to in-service teachers who wish to improve their command of the language to effectively conduct their classes in English and develop a range of teaching techniques as well as to elaborate English teaching materials.
Linguistic requirements
A B2-level (First Certificate) from the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) is required as a starting point in order to aim at a C1-level (Advanced) by the end of the course. A specific module is offered to those students who want to receive specific preparation to sit the CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) by the end of the course.
Nowadays more schools define themselves as having a multilingual identity and, therefore, require qualified professionals who are able to speak fluently and confidently in English in order to use this foreign language in their daily teaching practice.
The objective of the course is to provide students with comprehensive training in the language skills required to be able to conduct their teaching fully in English as well as to effectively implement a range of teaching techniques and tools in their classrooms.
