Admission and enrolment

Students with a degree in Advertising and Public Relations from Abat Oliba CEU University or those enrolled in the bachelor's in Advertising and Public Relations from Abat Oliba CEU University. Students who do not meet the requirements may study the course and receive only the certificate from the International School of Protocol.

3. Programme description

Abat Oliba CEU University (UAO CEU) and the International School of Protocol (EIP) introduce the first edition of the degree with a specialisation in Communication Management and Event Management. This fully consolidates UAO CEU and EIP as specialist universities in protocol as a communication tool. The universities don't limit their activity to teaching, but expand it to include research, the sharing of ideas and professional guidance for its students, with a clear focus on business and business management. 

The subjects that make up the degree in Advertising and Public Relations will take place during the four academic years of the course. The 18 credits that take place in the International School of Protocol (EIP) can be completed either during the second semester of the fourth year, in segments throughout the degree or once the degree has been completed.

4. Learn by doing

New teaching methodology inspired by the Learn by doing and Flipped classroom models. The student is at the centre of the teaching method and the classroom is a generator of professional experience.

GoliAds UAO CEU Awards: Advertising and PR students organise this contest, gala and awards ceremony every year, and it has become a reference point for advertising agencies.  
UAO CEU is the headquarters of the 18-19 and 19-20 editions of the Festival Drac Novell International - a major international meeting for advertising and communication, organised in collaboration with the Managerial Association of Advertising.

5. International School of Protocol 

Through this degree, the International Protocol School aims to promote studies in the fields of communication, protocol, institutional relations and skills for event management from an innovative perspective that complies with the demands of the current job market.

Following the principles established by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), UAO CEU and EIP strive for personalised education that focuses on the student. It goes beyond merely transmitting knowledge and encourages reflection, creative attitudes and the ability to learn how to learn. To achieve this, students have personal academic and professional tutoring from faculty who guide them towards choosing their specialisation itinerary in the course structure as well as in the transition to the workplace.

6. International programmes

International experience Canterbury Christ Church University is a knowledge and cultural exchange featuring international group work (Online International Learning), trips (Short Global Experience Study / Field Trip), Erasmus+ programmes and the possibility of double degrees.

The programme between CEU-University of Chicago (Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies) is an initiative for Journalism and Political Science (International Relations) students: trips, case study method and more.

8. Progressive International Development

A new itinerary of international experience that encourages Advertising and PR students to adopt an international outlook from the first year to the fourth through international collaboration activities, academic exchanges for students and faculty, participation in international research projects and short or long-term stays in universities abroad. 

1st: students will undergo an online interaction experience with other European universities.  

2nd: students will be able to explore global communication through short-term stays around Europe, where students will learn to adapt the advertising message to a cultural context. We receive a group of students from other European countries and work together on an international project.  

3rd: we prepare students for the latest and/or most transcultural challenges in collaboration with two European universities. With a constantly changing syllabus, we get in touch with students from various universities and work together to find solutions to the challenges of social responsibility, the environment and society. 

4th: We broaden horizons through the ERASMUS programme and semesters with our partner universities in Europe and the Americas (New York, Boston, Toronto, Santiago, Dublin, Mexico City and Florida, etc.). At UAO CEU, we organise various international advertising events (Drac Novell, GoliAds) that allow students to get to grips with international communication in a practical way.

In the final year of the degree, students will do an obligatory placement year, or internship, in businesses, offices or institutions in the student's preferred industry.

These practical training programmes, included in the course structure, allow students to apply and enhance what they've learned in the course while acquiring the professional skills that will make their future transition to the workplace much easier. The work that each student will undertake during the programme will be mutually agreed between the tutor in the business and the Work Placement and Employment Service coordinator in charge of the internship.

Furthermore, students have an academic tutor who provides follow-up and evaluation of the internship to get the most possible out of the placement.

The course structure offers students the opportunity to carry out a professional internship. This practical educational component places students within companies or departments in the sectors of protocol, institutional relations or communication. Students gain practical experience working on real-life tasks from the industry either alone or as part of a team.
Student evaluation is made up of three components: an internship passport from the International School of Protocol (EIP), a placement report written by the student; and feedback reports written by the internship tutor at the EIP and the internship tutor in the company.

Students may reserve a place at Abat Oliba CEU University that guarantees a place on the course, depending on a selection process or other entry requirements, by making a payment of €1,500, which contributes to the total cost.

Quality and regulation


Students must be interested in aspects related to the inner workings and management of institutional and corporate communication.

They must be skilled at understanding the different communication, advertising and public relations models that organisations use to analyse and diagnose problems and suggest solutions. They must also have the ability to analyse, summarise and relate to the group; good comprehension and abstract thought; good communication and social skills; a broad world view and a perspective on its possible evolution.

Furthermore, it is necessary to have a command of another language (preferably English) and be creative –in the widest sense of the word– within communications and advertising.
