Why study at the UAO CEU?

1. Employability

2. Double major

The Universitat Abat Oliba CEU is a pioneer on the methodology that allows to combine two degrees and obtain in 5 years two university degrees. The Abat Oliba CEU University offers this new degree combining its long tradition in Advertising and Public Relations studies with the Marketing studies, an area in which the UAO CEU is ground-breaking in the Catalan university context.

Marketing, Creativity and New Technologies are the essential elements required to the proper development of a company, both in the public and the private fields. For this reason, the Abat Oliba CEU University, aware of their importance, bases the studies of the double degree Marketing and Commercial Management + Advertising and Public Relations on these pillars.

The fundamental purpose of this double degree is to train professionals who are completely adapted to the necessities of the business and advertising world, who have special marketing and communication abilities and who are capable of creating, developing, controlling, selling and communicating any kind of product and/or service in any kind of company.

The combination of Marketing and Commercial Management subjects with Advertising and Public Relations subjects of this double degree provides the student with a comprehensive, in-depth and up-to-date view, which is highly valued in the current labour market.

3. Methodology

Teaching model based on the practical and individualised training that allows to link the  theoretical knowledge to professional practice, by means of real internships, workshops and practical seminars.

Based on these 3 pillars: marketing, creativity and new technologies.

4. Internationalisation

In the United States by means of the programmes “International Political Economy” with the University of Chicago and the “International Business Certificate Program” with the University of Boston. The students receive an international training in English, linked to their official degree studies, and may carry out an additional international mobility stay.

We offer the possibility to carry out international stays or internships in the best universities of Europe, America and Oceania.

5. Aula Emprende Programme

The UAO CEU bets for the development of the entrepreneur spirit in all the studies of the Business area, by means of several initiatives, such as:

  • Workshop  entrepreneur woman
  • Family business and entrepreneurship meetings
  • Experiential entrepreneurship conferences
  • CEU Emprende Summer Camp

In addition, the Entrepreneurs Club, created by students, promotes other activities, such as the BCN Thinking Challenge, an entrepreneurship marathon with the participation of students from different universities and fields of knowledge, and professionals from different areas, who must solve an "entrepreneurship case" with a social goal.

6. Applied knowledge

Our Advertising and PR students organise every year the gala and awards ceremony GoliADs UAO CEU Awards, which have become a model for many advertising agencies.

7. Competences program CEU ePlus

The CEU ePlus competence program is incorporated in every degree since the very first year, in order to work on the specific most demanded competences in the labour market for every degree. In addition, the students always have at their disposal the possibility to make an individual coaching procedure.

8. Facilities

The Audiovisual Service of the University comprehends all the facilities, infrastructures, and fixed and mobile equipment necessary for the teaching activity (television studio, sound system studio, photography studio, radio studio, etc.).

INTERNSHIPS

In the final year of the degree course, students undertake a mandatory work placement in companies, offices or institutions in their preferred area of practice.

These practical training programmes are included in the study plans, and enable the student to apply and complement the knowledge they have acquired during their academic training, ensuring that they acquire professional competences that will assist them when they enter employment in the future. The group of activities that the student will develop in this programme will be jointly agreed between the company’s tutor and the Work Placement and Employment Service coordinator, who is in charge of the practicum.

The student will also have an academic tutor who will monitor and evaluate the internships to ensure that the students get the maximum use of their time at the organisation.

PLACE RESERVATION

You will be able to do the place reservation at the Abat Oliba CEU University, which guarantees a place in the degree while awaiting approval of the Selectivitat or other access requirements, carrying out the payment of €1,500 which will be discounted from the total price of the course.

PAYMENT METHODS

Once you have made a reservation, the payment of the rest of the registration fee can be carried out in one of the following methods:

Single payment

This method involves a 3% discount on the enrolment fees.

Instalment payment

Of the enrolment fee in four instalments per year.

Monthly payment

10 instalments with special financing at 0% interest with Banc Sabadell (Check opening charges).

Other payment methods

With Banco Santander, "la Caixa", Catalunya Caixa, BBVA and Banc Sabadell. This method also involves a 3% discount on the enrolment fees.

Quality and regulations

ADMISSION PROFILE

The student must be interested in areas related to marketing, retail management and leadership, and in issues related to how institutional and corporate communications work within organisations.

They must be able to understand the social function of the company, and analyse and identify issues and propose solutions. They must be able to analyse and summarise information and work as part of a group, as well as to understand and abstract information. They must be expressive, sociable, open-minded and have a view on how the world may develop in the future.

The student must also be proficient in a foreign language (preferably English), and have a flair for quantitative methods and creativity in the wider sense in communications and advertising.

OBJECTIVES

  • Speaking using refined economic and business language - in other words, have sound knowledge of the concepts and fundamental management tools that can be applied to the functional areas of marketing and sales within the company.
  • Having a comprehensive view of the organisation and business environments in which companies operate.
  • Being able to understand how a company works and how the changes that occur in a company affect business decision-making.
  • Developing the abilities and skills required to apply knowledge that has been acquired, and be able to carry out professional activities in different environments such as Marketing and Commercial Management in companies and organisations.
  • Being able to evaluate, criticise, discuss, develop and present business proposals after understanding the social, economic, international context, etc., that they are presented in.
  • Applying the training they have received to their personal lives, and the professions they have trained for, in line with the sustainability and social responsibility values for any company or organisation.
  • Becoming an impartial and efficient business professional that assumes the role of his profession responsibly and diligently, and be aware of the commitment that comes with managing business organisations, which is essential for the common good and for personal well-being.
  • Developing initiative and leadership skills, as well as an interest in Marketing and Commercial Management.
  • Acquiring the linguistic capabilities that are required for sound Marketing and Commercial Management within a company or an organisation.
  • Having the knowledge of different research and analysis techniques in communications, advertising and public relations.
  • Having the knowledge of management techniques in global business and in communications, advertising and public relations departments.
  • Having the knowledge of the structure of media, audiences and buying thereof, as well as characteristics, types and issues.
