Curriculum based on humanism, emphasizing the dignity and inherent value of the human being

Why study at the UAO CEU?

1. Humanistic approach

The curriculum is based on humanism, emphasizing the dignity and inherent value of the human being to provide patient-centred care. The aim is for health professionals to not only focus on the disease and its treatment but also on the emotional, social and spiritual needs of patients.

- The teachers recognize the student as a person with all their integral and social complexity, supporting them closely during their process and progress as a student.

- Humanistic subjects are included that foster the development of effective communication skills, active listening and sensitivity to deal with complex situations. These subjects also help students understand the concerns and expectations of the patients, respecting their beliefs, different points of view and life choices.

2. Small groups

Class sizes are small, with two groups of 40 students in each, which favours a personalized learning environment. Teaching in small groups allows close monitoring of students and the collection of information on the degree of skills acquisition.

3. Learning by doing

The personalized teaching method is adapted to the learning needs of each student, seeking excellence in their academic and professional training.

- Simulation activities that bring the professional reality closer to the learning processes.

- A training and skills-based training that balances the theoretical and practical elements of the main areas of the health system: acute hospitalizations, social health centres and primary and community care.

- Internships from the first year thanks to agreements with hospitals and primary care and social health centres, gaining professional experience from the very start of the degree. Assessment is continuous and formative with the aim of minimizing the final exams and strengthening the learning processes.

4. Leadership and employability: Design your future

Design your future is an employability acceleration program for students of all CEU university degrees. Its aim is to improve employability and facilitate integration into the professional world, reducing the time to the first work experience. Developed by the Employability Commission of the CEU Employability Advisory Council and designed by future employers, it focuses on knowledge of the job market and how companies work.

5. International exchange agreements

With regards to specific mobility opportunities for the Degree in Nursing, all the collaboration agreements already signed with overseas higher education institutions that include studies equivalent to this degree are considered as a starting point. The complete, up-to-date list of these institutions can be consulted in the international mobility section of the university website (international agreements section).
