All-round education in economics, business and law


1. Specialisation pathways

The Degree in Economics and Management offers high-quality, all-round education in economics, business and law, allowing students to pursue careers in various fields.

From the second semester of the third year, this degree incorporates three specialisation pathways so students* can choose the route that best suits their future plans:

  • International Business
  • Property Management
  • NGO Management

*Each pathway requires a minimum number of 10 students

2. Education in economics, business and law

This degree is aimed at people interested in acquiring solid general skills in the fields of economics, business and law, as well as a knowledge of specific areas that streamline their entry into management roles at international businesses, real estate companies or NGOs.

The course structure of the Degree in Economics and Management is based on four main pillars: quality education, the development of personal and team-based skills, an internationally focused curriculum and professional internships and entrepreneurship.

3. International outlook

In the USA, through the International Business Certificate Program with the University of Boston. Students receive an international education in English connected to their official degree studies and can also take part in additional international programmes.

Finally, we offer international study abroad programmes or internships in the best European, American and Australian universities.

4. Entrepreneurship

UAO CEU's focus on entrepreneurial spirit across the board can be seen through the activities organised by the Entrepreneur's Club, created by the students themselves. Among their activities, the organisation of BCN Thinking Challenge stands out. This entrepreneurial marathon sees students from different universities and specialities, and workers from various sectors, come together to resolve an altruistic entrepreneurship case.

Furthermore, the University reinforces its support of entrepreneurship through various activities:

5. CEU ePlus skills programme

A teaching model based on practical, personalised education that links theory to professional practice through case studies and real experiences, workshops and practical seminars.

It includes visits to national and international companies and production centres through internships.

Students who earn the Official Degree in Economics and Management from Abat Oliba CEU University can pursue their careers in the following areas:

In the final year of the degree, students will do an obligatory placement year, or internship, in businesses, offices or institutions in the student's preferred industry. These practical training programmes, included in the course structure, allow students to apply and enhance what they've learned in the course while acquiring the professional skills that will make their future transition to the workplace much easier.

The work that each student will undertake during the programme will be mutually agreed between the tutor in the business and the Work Placement and Employment Service coordinator in charge of the internship.

Furthermore, students have an academic tutor who provides follow-up and evaluation of the internship to get the most possible out of the placement.

Quality and regulation


Students should be interested in aspects related to the economy and running and managing a business. They must be aware of the social role of businesses and how to analyse, diagnose and propose solutions to problems. Furthermore, they must be able to analyse, synthesise and work in a team, understand and abstract ideas, express ideas clearly, be sociable, broaden their world view and have a perspective on their own possible evolution.

Knowledge of another language (preferably English) is desired and required, as is a flair for communication.

This means having a refined business and economic language and a solid knowledge of the basic management concepts and tools applicable to businesses.


  • To have a global vision of the organisations and environment they work in and are built on.
  • To understand how the economy works and how changes within it affect business decision-making.
  • To develop the skills and necessary to apply the knowledge gained and to be prepared to carry out professional tasks in all kinds of areas in business management.
  • To understand and critically evaluate the present to be able to communicate events as accurately as possible, as well as having a cultural and historical framework to contextualise and explain precedents, causes or foreseeable consequences.
  • To take control of IT projects, coordinate journalistic teams and direct media.
  • To have sufficient knowledge of the most relevant concepts, categories, theories and aspects of the different branches of research in information communication.
  • To be an all-round journalist who bears in mind the social responsibility of media when working.
