Student profile

Students should have an interest in social communication, current affairs and how the media works and its management. They should also be able to express themselves orally and in writing and have analytical and group relationship skills as well as the ability to be concise.

Admission and enrolment

Application for admission should be submitted through the Admission Portal. Candidates will be assessed based on their academic record and the admissions tests taken. 
Preferential admission will be granted to those candidates who meet the academic entry requirements and who best fulfil the selection criteria.

The Double Degree in Communication and Digital Content Creation + Journalism combines the fundamentals of traditional journalism (research, writing, ethics and critical analysis) with specialized skills in digital content creation (multimedia design, digital storytelling, social media, SEO and more).

The course includes training in Big Data, UX-UI, SEO and SEM, graphic design and digital marketing, key areas in today's digital communication market.

2. Leadership and employability: Design YOUR Future

A new Design YOUR Future Employment Acceleration Program for students of all degree courses at CEU universities that aims to improve employability and facilitate integration into the professional world, reducing the time to their first work experience. Developed by the CEU Employability Advisory Council's Entrepreneurship Commission and designed by future employers, it focuses on knowledge of the labour market and how companies work.

Companies, the media, marketing agencies and public entities are seeking profiles that are capable of managing digital communication and creating attractive content on online platforms.
The transition towards digital media has triggered the need for experts in digital communication and journalism adapted to new technologies.
 

4. Communication HUB

 An interdisciplinary communication space with four areas of specialization: 

• AulaNews: Editing a multimedia digital newspaper.
 AulaAgencia: Communication, advertising and public relations agency.
• AulaMedia: Audiovisual production company for the creation of professional multimedia content.
• AulaThink: Think tank for generating knowledge and carrying out research in the field of communication.

5. Certificate in Data Journalism and Social Media

The Degree in Communication and Digital Content Creation + Journalism includes the Certificate in Data Journalism and Social Media (24 ECTS in classroom-based format). Big data has brought about a disruptive revolution in communication. This certificate provides students with the possibility of acquiring skills demanded by the new data journalism and of being an active part of the new communication trend.

7. Progressive International Development

New international experience itinerary that encourages communication degree students to internationalize from their first year through to their fourth:

  • 1st: Students will be able to interact and carry out research online with universities in Canada, Germany, the UK and the USA.
  • 2nd: We explore global communication through short stays in Germany, England and other European countries. We offer students experience in the European Union (Brussels) or at UNESCO (Geneva).
  • 3rd: We prepare students for the international market with the Communication Lab Experience, an extraordinary stay at one of our partner universities in Canada and the USA.
  • 4th: We broaden students' horizons through the Erasmus program or through semester-long stays at one of our partner universities in Europe and the Americas.

Students who obtain the official Double Degree in Communication and Digital Content Creation + Journalism from the Abat Oliba CEU University can develop their career in the following areas:

1. The Media

Journalist in traditional media: Working for newspapers, magazines, radio or television as a writer, editor, reporter or correspondent.
Digital media journalist: Content production for online platforms, news portals and digital magazines.
Multimedia contents editor: Management and editing of audiovisual and graphic content for the media.

2. Digital Marketing and Advertising

Social media manager: Management of social media, strategy planning and content creation to increase the online presence of businesses.
Community manager: Interaction with digital communities and online reputation management.
Content marketing specialist: Design and execution of content strategies aimed at positioning (SEO/SEM) and traffic generation.
Copywriter: Persuasive writing for advertising campaigns, websites and social media.
Digital advertising campaign manager: Creation of advertisements and strategies on platforms such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads or TikTok Ads.

3. Content Production

Digital content creator: Development of blogs, vlogs, podcasts and content for platforms such as YouTube, Twitch or Instagram.
Streaming and video platform manager: Content design and management for platforms such as Netflix, Spotify or YouTube.
Digital storyteller: Design of engaging narratives for digital campaigns and products.
 

INTERNSHIPS

During the last year of their degree, students undertake compulsory internships in companies, offices or institutions in their area of choice.

These practical training programs, which are included within the curricula, enable students to apply and complement the knowledge acquired during their academic training, favouring the acquisition of professional skills that will facilitate their future work placement.

The activities the student will carry out during their internship will be defined, by mutual agreement, by the company tutor and the Internship and Employment Services coordinator who is responsible for the internship.

Students will also have an academic tutor who will monitor and assess the internships to ensure students gain the maximum benefit from their placement.

The academic fees correspond solely and exclusively to the provision of the teaching service of the degree enrolled on, this being the only service corresponding to the payment of those fees. By enrolling, the student consents and accepts that the teaching, tutorials, internships and evaluation tests may be in-person or remote (when the competent authorities so require, either directly or indirectly).

The obligation to pay in full the aforementioned fees will still apply even in the case that, for reasons beyond the University's control, some of the training activities included in the degree cannot be carried out according to the teaching schedule established at the beginning of the academic year. Should this occur, the University will guarantee the student that said activity will be rescheduled when possible, taking into account the interests of the students and other academic criteria that may apply.

RESERVING YOUR PLACE

Once you have been accepted on the course, you can reserve your place at the Abat Oliba CEU University, which guarantees you a place at the UAO CEU while you wait to pass the university entrance exam* or other entry requirements, by paying a deposit of €1500 (which will be deducted from the total price of the course).


*The reservation of your place will be effective exclusively for the ordinary exam period (June) of the Baccalaureate university entrance exam. Candidates who do not pass the Baccalaureate university entrance exam or other entry requirements for studies included in the ordinary period (June) but have paid the place reservation fee will be prioritized in the September enrolment if the University has places available in the degree course requested.


Cancellation of reservation: You will have until 21 June to cancel your reserved place. You can therefore reserve your place now with full guarantees**

PAYMENT METHOD

Once you have formalized the reservation of your place, you can pay the remaining amount of the course fees in the following ways:

  • single payment

    A single payment entitles you to a 3% discount on your course fees.

  • payment by installments

    5 installments per academic year.

 

  • monthly payment

    10 installments through special 0% interest financing from CaixaBank. This also entitles you to a 3% discount on your course fees.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Students should have an interest in social communication, current affairs and how the media works and its management.

They should also be able to express themselves orally and in writing, to analyse and diagnose problems and propose solutions; have analytical and group relationship skills as well as the ability to be concise; ease of understanding and abstraction, sociability, a broad vision of the world and a perspective on its possible evolution.

Knowledge of another language (preferably English) is also of interest and necessity, as is having the ability to communicate.
