Why study at the UAO CEU?

1. Experience

Early Childhood Education is the educational stage belonging to the first period of life (from 0 to 6 years) and it is divided into two cycles. It aims to contribute to the personal and social development of children through learning and teaching methods. In order to properly develop these educational methods, teachers must acquire academic and practical training in accordance with this important task.
To achieve this purpose, the Abat Oliba CEU University offers a solid, in-depth and professional study programme, which is the result of a combination of university educational experiences lived in the Humanities’ area and the faculties of teaching studies of Vigo and Sevilla, as well as in the educational institutions which the CEU group owns across the country.
Early Childhood Education teachers need not only theoretical and technical knowledge, but also the ability to turn Education into an art and a vocation.

2. School Immersion Programme

Since the first year, our students participate in the real activities that are developed in the educative centres of the Abat Oliba Foundation. This way, we provide a practical knowledge of the teaching profession, and every different aspect related to it.

  • Systematic observation in real classrooms
  • Attendance to Planning and Evaluation boards
  • Entrance to the classes of their didactic teachers, so they can observe and practice what is taught in their classrooms
  • Talks with teachers with different experience degrees about their motivations, difficulties, challenges, etc.
  • Visits and trips to cultural and sports centres to know the pedagogic departments and the activities they carry out
  • Collaboration in the organisation and execution of end-of-course festivals, and traditional parties such as Sant Jordi, la Castanyada, Christmas, etc.
3. Competences program CEU ePlus

The CEU ePlus competence program is incorporated in every degree since the very first year, in order to work on the specific most demanded competences in the labour market for every degree. In addition, the students always have at their disposal the possibility to make an individual coaching procedure.

4. Intensive preparative course to access the Education degrees

Intensive course to pass the required Aptitude Test in order to access the Early Childhood and Primary Education degrees.

The group of activities that the student will develop in this programme will be jointly agreed between the company’s tutor and the Work Placement and Employment Service coordinator, who is in charge of the practicum.
